Corporate Social Responsibilty

  • Reponsible as corporate citizens

Lydian is socially responsible both within and outside the firm. We believe that we have a responsibility, as corporate citizens, to help shape the future in a way that provides economic, ecological and social benefits for all. Our initiatives in the area of corporate responsibility are many and varied across our business, but in all our activities, we seek to behave in a way that consistently reinforces our business principles of (e)quality, unity and integrity.

  • Environmentally conscious

We aim to respect the environment in all our endeavours.

Our environmentally conscious approach starts with the pursuit of a paperless office. Our people have the necessary technological resources to limit print volume. In addition, we focus on recyclable and/or environmentally friendly office equipment, including plastic-free coffee and water cups.

Our offices (Brussels, Antwerp, Hasselt) are geographically spread across Belgium. They are easily accessible by public transport and/or are equipped with shower facilities and changing rooms which are used by our people who commute to work by bicycle. We have chosen these locations strategically to limit the amount of travel time for our people and clients.

  • Our people

Lydian’s people-oriented approach consists of the necessary internal processes aimed at equal treatment, inclusion and diversity and the support of socially relevant initiatives.

We invest a lot of time and effort into talent development and the training of our people via Lydian Academy, offering them challenging work and a good working environment. Furthermore, we undertake socially relevant initiatives including sponsoring and taking part in the Legal Run (20km de Bruxelles - 20km door Brussel) to raise funds for a (local) charity, such as KickCancer. As part of the end-year celebrations, all Lydianites have been given a countdown calendar from Neuhaus. This advent calendar is not only delicious, it also supports a good cause. Every day a treat will help Make-A-Wish® Belgium to fulfill the wishes of children with a life threatening disease.

Lydian is an attractive place to work in terms of professional development, work-life balance and opportunities. We offer flexible working conditions and have invested substantially in technology to allow our people to work comfortably from home. Non-discrimination, equal treatment, inclusion, gender equality etc. are part of our recruitment policy and are essential values for us. Women represent more than half of the people working at Lydian. We are one of the founding members of the Legal Diversity & Inclusion Alliance (LDIA), supporting the collective commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal sector.

  • More than a job

Working at Lydian is more than just a job.

We have created a fun and healthy workplace and invest in various social activities, going from company ski trips to family-oriented events. Our Lydian Social Team regularly organises events like afterworks, the yearly recurring summer event, Saint-Nicholas and Christmas parties. Lydian also hosts family movie nights, bowling nights and several other activities, including an indoor laser shooting game.

The Lydian Social Team also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle by organising and participating in soccer and tennis matches, ping pong tournaments and the Spartacus run. To further encourage healthy habits, twice a week fresh, locally grown fruit is delivered for our people to enjoy.
