Specialist areas
Héloïse has a particular focus on:
- all fields of insurance law;
- insurance market practices matters;
- insurance corporate projects (such as portfolio transfer projects and Brexit-related questions);
- life insurance questions;
- distribution of life and non-life insurance products; and
- issues related to the annual insurance premium tax.
Expertise and experience
She advises regularly national and international insurance companies or intermediaries on the legislative and regulatory provisions that apply in connection with insurance. She is often involved in reviewing insurance documents and insurance distribution processes. Héloïse also assists clients in all kinds of insurance disputes including those relating to general liability, product liability and insurance market practices.
During her career at Lydian, Héloïse has been seconded to the Tax & Legal Retail Life department of AG Insurance , to the Legal & Compliance department of Generali Belgium (now Athora Belgium) and to the Legal department of Ergo Insurance.
Background
Héloïse graduated with a law degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) in 2008 and obtained her LL.M in Insurance Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Brussels, Belgium) in 2009. She joined Lydian in the same year and was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2012.
Publications and speaking engagements
Héloïse writes regularly on specific insurance issues such as product lliability and control of insurance intemediaries. Among her most notable articles are: “Current and future impacts of the financial sector reform on the control of insurance intermediaries” ; “Product liability insurance” (co-authored with Hugo Keulers and Anne Catteau); and “Article 45 of the Statute on non-marine insurance contracts in view of 20 years of application” (co-authored with Sandra Lodewijckx). She regularly speaks at internal and external seminars.
