The new LIR Belgium Edition is out!
The latest Belgium Edition of The Legal Industry Reviews (LIR) has just been published, bringing together insights on key legal developments across the Belgian market.
This edition was curated under the editorial direction of Kato Aerts (partner, Lydian), who also co‑authored an article together with Stijn Lamberigts (counsel, Lydian) and Sarah Witvrouw (senior associate, Lydian). Their contribution "The Private Investigation Act in Practice: Invalidity of Observations Confirmed” explores the first case law applying the Private Investigation Act (PIA) in an employment context. The article highlights how exceeding the legally permitted observation period can render an investigation report invalid, with major implications for evidence in dismissal cases and the financial exposure of employers.
