On 16 July 2026, the Belgian Chamber of Representatives unanimously approved Book 7 of the new Belgian Civil Code (“Special Contracts”). This reform is expected to have a significant impact on a broad range of contractual relationships and on the day-to-day operations of businesses.
The Commercial & Litigation and Real Estate & Regulatory teams have been closely monitoring these developments for some time. Drawing on their combined expertise and extensive experience, they assist clients in assessing the impact of Book 7 on their existing contractual practices.
Book 7 is expected to enter into force one year after its publication in the Belgian Official Gazette. We will, of course, keep you informed of further developments and of the final entry-into-force date.
If you have any questions regarding the impact of Book 7 on your contractual practices, please do not hesitate to contact our teams.
