Iris is a counsel in the Real Estate, Environment & Regulatory practice
Iris has a particular focus on:
- real estate transactions
- real estate developments (offices, residential and retail developments)
- construction and engineering contracts (including PPP)
- lease agreements, leasing agreements and negotiations
Expertise and experience
Iris advises clients on a broad range of real estate issues including real rights (property, long lease, building rights) and personal rights (all types of leasing and financial leasing), usufruct and construction matters. She also assists clients in real estate transactions (asset and share deal) and in real estate developments.
Iris graduated with a law degree from the University of Antwerp in 1998. In 1999, she graduated from the University of Brussels as Master in Economic and Financial Law. She was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2003, and in 2007 she transferred to the Antwerp Bar. Since 2003, she has held increasingly senior posts with independent Belgian law firms, joining Lydian in 2014 and being promoted to Counsel in 2018.

Iris regularly speaks at client seminars. Recent topics include “Points of interest in due diligence in the transfer of shares in real estate companies”(“Actuele aandachtspunten inzake due diligence binnen het kader van een aandelenoverdracht van een vastgoedvennootschap”), “Outlook 2019: recent developments for your real estate development projects” (“Vooruitblik 2019: recente ontwikkelingen relevant voor uw commerciële vastgoedprojecten”), “Recent case law on construction liability” (“Recente rechtspraak omtrent aansprakelijkheid van bouwactoren”) and “Valuation of real estate” (“Waardering van vastgoed”) (presented in Dutch).
Her most current publications are “The EPC deepened and expanded” (e-zine) and she is the joint author of the handbook “Manual for Project Development” (“Handleiding voor Projectontwikkeling”).
Iris is a member of the Board of Directors of Beheersmaatschappij Antwerpen Mobiel (Lantis) and a member of the Audit Committee since May 2015.
