Expertise and experience
Liese's practice focuses on Data Protection (Privacy) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Liese regularly assists clients in data protection matters, including with respect to processing agreements, privacy and cookie policies and data subjects' rights. Moreover, she specializes in privacy issues in both a national and international context (GDPR compliance, drafting and review of controller and processor agreements, binding corporate rules, etc.). Moreover, Liese represents clients in proceedings related to the processing of personal data, both before the Data Protection Authority and the Belgian courts.
Liese also assists clients in the areas of intellectual property rights, telecom, internet and information technology.
Background
Liese obtained a Master of Laws from KU Leuven in 2018, where she graduated from magna cum laude. Since 2018 she became a member of the Brussels Bar. Moreover, Liese is an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E) and DPO.
Publications and speaking engagements
Liese is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences on (personal) data, technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and ICT matters and regularly publishes in legal reviews such as Tijdschrift Privacy & Persoonsgegevens (Personal Data and Privacy Review), DataGuidance, and Bulletin des Assurances (Insurance Law Journal) . Furthermore, since several years, she teaches media law in the journalism program at KU Leuven (Brussels), where she educates students on issues such as privacy and image rights and she is often requested as guest lecturer in other university programs.
