Lydian Webinar: "What to do in case of online IP infringement ?"
The Internet, webshops, online platforms and social media have created a wide range of opportunities for companies to communicate their brand messages and reach to their target audience. However, this also opened the doors for online IP infringement. Given the increase of online sales of counterfeited goods, the EU legislator decided to intervene the last years. These new legislations bring new measures to assist more effectively IP right holders.
During today's webinar, our speakers Olivia Santantonio, Pauline Hellemans and Adelice Meunier explained the legal EU and Belgian framework available for IP owners and tackled the following questions that it often faces when dealing with IP online infringements:
- How to collect / secure the proof of the IP online infringement ?
- Are there specific procedures available for online IP infringement ?
- Whom to sue ? Can we also sue the intermediary (online platform, social media…) ?
- Which Courts have jurisdictions ?
- Which measures can be ordered ?
