Brussels, 1 October 2020 – With the arrival of Maxime Colle as Corporate M&A partner, alongside Peter De Ryck, we are strengthening our Corporate and Finance Department and further broadening our experience and offering in M&A. With this recruitment our firm, which already has more than 85 lawyers, is continuing its steady growth in all aspects of business law.

Hugo Keulers, Managing Partner at Lydian: ‘His dynamic profile and international expertise are the perfect complement to enable us to continue standing out in years to come as a full-service law firm. Lydian's strength lies in the fact that everyone promotes entrepreneurship and is eager to go the extra mile, and Maxime is cast in that same mould.’

Maxime obtained his law degree at the University of Ghent in 2003. He then studied at the Institute for Law and Finance (ILF) of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from which he obtained an LL. M. (Finance) magna cum laude in 2004. The same year Maxime was admitted to the Brussels bar and began his career at NautaDutilh, a top-tier Benelux law firm, where he became a partner in 2017.

He specialises in all areas of corporate law, with a particular focus on public and private M&A, private equity transactions, venture capital, joint ventures, business restructuring, equity capital market transactions and corporate governance.

Peter De Ryck, Partner at Lydian and head of the Corporate and M&A team: ‘With Maxime on board we are bringing additional expertise in-house, particularly with regard to private equity, technology and life sciences, and at the same time we cover the East and West Flanders markets. In that way we are also reinforcing our local base. On top of that, his profile is a perfect match for our entrepreneurial Corporate and Finance team of approximately twenty lawyers.’

Ambition

At Lydian Maxime will advise companies, private equity funds and other investors and entrepreneurs. He has a broad corporate practice, combining transactional M&A activity with in-depth advisory and business restructuring work. Although he describes himself as sector-agnostic, he has extensive experience in private equity, technology and life sciences.

I am thrilled to be able to support the Corporate M&A team to continue to grow on both the national and international markets as a partner in this full-service law firm,’ says Maxime Colle, Partner at Lydian. ‘What is unique about Lydian is the clear Anglo-Saxon and international approach that it embodies as an independent Belgian law firm. This ‘best of both worlds’ DNA can be found everywhere at Lydian, from straight-to-the-point advice to clients to in-depth insight into new technologies and sufficiently proven experience. It is this mix of hyperprofessionalism and entrepreneurship that appeals to me so much. On top of that, clients are not a number at Lydian, our aim is to continue to advice and serve them, also after a transaction has been closed, a field that in my view offers plenty of opportunities for companies and entrepreneurs. I have high aspirations, and at Lydian I can fully indulge them. This feels like coming home.
