Public procurement – new thresholds for publication

The European Commission has notified the Member States of its draft regulations setting the thresholds that will apply from 1 January 2020 for two years. For the first time since 2010, the proposed thresholds are lowered:

• EUR 139 000 for supplies and services contracts of central contracting authorities;
• EUR 214 000 for supplies and services contracts of non-central contracting authorities and for supplies and services contracts of central contracting authorities in the defense sector;
• EUR 428 000 for supplies and services contracts by contracting entities in the special sectors and supplies and services contracts in the defense and security sector;
• EUR 5 350 000 for works contracts and services concessions.

These amounts are exclusive of VAT.

The final European regulations are expected by the end of 2019.
