Experience and expertise
Isabel has extensive experience in Belgian and European individual and collective employment law.
She is a certified Data Protection Officer and advises clients on data protection and privacy issues at work. These range from best practices in processing HR related personal data to drafting data protection and privacy policies. Isabel provides guidance to clients on GDPR compliance in HR matters.
She advises clients on all aspects of health and human resources management. Isabel assists in drafting up to date policies covering areas such as recruitment; promotion; good conduct; training; re-integrating employees with disability; absenteeism; alcohol and drugs; and deals with cases on psychosocial risks and harassment.
Background
After obtaining a Master of Laws degree from Ghent University in 1996, Isabel worked at the University as an Employment Law Research Assistant. She has studied at the Université libre de Bruxelles and at the Instituto Cervantes. She was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2001.
Publications and speaking engagements
Isabel lectures employment law at the University of Ghent in the Department of Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law.
She regularly speaks at seminars and conferences on employment law and data protection at work and frequently publishes in technical journals and handbooks.
Isabel also prepares client briefings on behalf of the firm on human resources and data protection issues.
She is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal “Oriëntatie” and “Tijdschrift Privacy en Persoonsgegevens” (Privacy and Data Protection Review).
